Hi all I joined here a little while ago but this is my first attempt at creating a JAV subtitle. Please give me feedback if you can as that would be much appreciated. Many thanks, Dixie Method used: 1. I used VideoSubFinder to scan a Chinese hardcoded AV. 2. Then I used ABBYY FineReader 15 to OCR the text. 3. Finally, I used Subtitle Edit to translate the .txt files and create a .srt I have a paid Google Translate account which is linked to SE. I will do some more using this method plus I have also tested Autosub which is CLI python script, which gives mixed results.

Hello DixieD, and welcome! :) I don't have the movie, so I can't give feedback about dialogs, but I have some experience making subtitles. First, congratulations for the method you've used. I know it's not as easy as writing it, since I tried it once and got no success. I've also tried Autosub, and yeah, t he results are really differents depending on the movie, and rarely accurate actually. About your subtitles file, if it's really your first one, this is very good! Most of subtitles you'll find on the web are auto-translated from Chinese, thus with the same quality. However, I came to find MANY subtitles of a much lower quality than yours! 1) If you watched the movie with these subtitles and think it's totally understandable though not perfect, you did a good job! For JAV, most of people would be very happy with it! 2) You didn't add your credits. The JAV subtitles world is the jungle. Everybody steals subtitles of others, and many time they remove credits to add their own... So, especially when you made subtitles for very recent release like NSPS-994, add a line somewhere to specify something like "transcripted / OCRized by DixieP". Of course anyone can still remove it, but I hope they'll feel guilty about it, and other users could eventually know they are lamers. 3) Asian languages are lazy on pronouns. They guess it's "He", "She" or "You" by context, or replace them by the real name (ie: "Ai-chan is really cute" rather then "You are very cute"). So, when translating from chinese, auto-translator may convert the Japanese name by the Chinese name. Your subtitles seem ok, but I write it in case you encounter something like this one day. 4) Japanese, like other languages, have some idioms to replace raw words. The one you'll always see in JAV is "meat stick" for "cock/dick". While JAV experts are use to it, it may confuse other people. 5) Because of OCR, some strange characters have been inserted. Like: - it has nothing to do with you ■ - -Stop it • We're here to - -y-A4» The box does not lock It doesn't have much importance, it always happens. Good job! I hope you enjoy the site! See you!

I'm a bit of a newbie also. My thing is "modifying" existing subtitles. I've done about 6 for "truc". I think what you are doing is fantastic. Way beyond my skill set. Would you be interested in creating a subtitle file for a JAV (OREC-542). I'm even willing to pay you a small fee for your effort. Thanks for replying. Unfortunately that JAV (OREC-542) does not have hard coded (embedded) subtitles. What is required is a program that can convert audio into digital and then translate the digital Japanese dialogue into English. That may require two programs. One to convert the audio and another to translate the digital. I can do the second step, translating the dialogue using Google Translate, but I haven't been able to find a program that can do a decent job of converting the audio.

I've uploaded another subtitle. ???? I've actually been creating quite a few but have not had a chance to post on here. The one I've uploaded today is NSFS-008 I used the same method as before but this time I used the great feedback above and did some text edits where the OCRE failed to capture the correct text. I also added my own credit for the OCR part of the process. Clearly, the actual Chinese translation was done by someone else. I also uploaded the Chinese srt file at the same time. I'll try to get more time and upload all the others that I've managed to do so far. Cheers, Dixie

Thank you Dixie for your great job! As I told you, I've tried this process before and I failed, mostly because of the OCR being inaccurate. Do you have a special technique when the OCR doesn't get the good chinese character? Anyway, thank you for your time and sharing your work and feedback!
