I'm looking for a subtitle file for Jav KBI-088. However created including a machine generated one. I like to take existing subtitle files for JAV and "modify" them. To do that I need the JAV, in this case KBI-088, which I have downloaded, plus a subtitle file for that JAV. Can anyone help me on this? Thanks, Robert

Generating a machine subtitle file is not all that hard anymore. Get the latest version of Subtitle Edit, it has that capability built in. If it is in Just download the language pack and it should give you a raw translated SRT. However, the quality can vary, depending on many variables.

Thank you Mushroom. I got the latest version of SE and got an English "dictionary" but couldn't figure out how to get SE to create an .srt file from the KBI-088 video that I had opened. Everything I tried seemed to require an existing srt file. I looked at all the drop down menus and never saw anything that said "create a srt file from the opened video.

OK, it is rather simple, and here is how I do it. 1. Make an empty SRT file, and open that in SE. When you use SE to open it you will get an error message saying it is blank, just ignore that. 2. Make sure you have gone to the VOSK website and downloaded the appropriate models for the source language. 3. In the VIDEO tab, select "Audio to text (Vosk/Kaldi)", there is a link there to open model folders. Unzip the appropriate models and put them in there. 4. Make sure the correct model is selected and choose "Generate". It takes some time, I want to say about 2:1 for time. SO a 1 hour movie seems to take about 30 minutes. Just be patient. 5. It will generate subtitles in the original language. Simply pick "Auto-Translate", and it will use the Google translation engine to convert it to whatever language you choose. 6. Save the files. And really that's it. The resulting file will of course be rough, with not great timings and a lot of errors, but it is a good starting place. When I create my own SRT files now, I always start with one of these, even if it is in a language I am fluent in. It is common for me to use 2 and 3 sources, and my final SRT is kind of a blending of all of them. Trying to be both a good translation, as well as capturing the story as well as often a "literal translation" is not always enjoyable viewing. For example, when doing a literal translation you may end up with a name converted to the meaning. Say for example if it was converting from English it would translate "Joy" to "Happy", or "Nick" as "cut". That is just some of the joy of translating.
