France's most popular adult film actress of all time, Brigitte Lahaie, who has never dazzled or acted better, stars as Hélène, the blushing new bride of the brooding lord of the manor, Mr. Bertrand, a handsome man who, once they have settled into his luxurious chateau, virtually ignores her, overlooking his perfectly logical desire for carnal consummation. He is, however, a consummate libertine, as evidenced by his frequent visits to the village brothel, and wants to ensure that his inexperienced wife is perfectly suited to his sexual needs. So, accompanied by glasses of milk laced with some aphrodisiac, Hélène undergoes a series of fiery intimate initiations instigated by the maid Maguy (the always unsettling Karine Gambier), the stable boy Hector (Jean-Pierre Armand), and the elderly butler Ralf (the ever-present dirty old man Robert Leray).
“Je Suis à Prendre” is notably distinguished from mainstream porn by the director’s painfully erotic buildup to each carnal crescendo. Leray takes his time seducing the viewer, which is particularly appreciated, with an innocent Lahaie becoming an object of desire on demand. The imaginatively fueled location is utilized exemplarily by François About’s phenomenal widescreen cinematography, and even the haunting, gently chiming music really adds to the overwhelming atmosphere of dread, mixed with mounting delight. This film is considered Francis Leroi's crowning achievement, and has become one of the best European adult films of all time.
