Harriet (the voluptuous Lisa De Leeuw) is a socially disoriented middle-aged woman who is fed up with seeing her boss (Robert Kerman AKA Richard Bolla) repeatedly meet in his office with Lucy (the sexy mature Lee Carroll), a high-class prostitute willing to offer whatever her clients ask for. Eager to gain experience in the sexual arena, Harriet asks Lucy for a private meeting to learn the "secrets" of seduction and success in relationships. Soon, the two become close friends, and Harriet finds herself thrust into various situations involving the most unorthodox characters and the most sophisticated sexual practices.
Directed by Henri Pachard and Roberta Findlay, who also produced and filmed the film, "Mascara" is one of the great adult films of the Golden Age set in the context of New York City. It offers a fast-paced narrative that revolves around the sordid nature of the story, always adding a fun touch of obscene humor with raw and very arousing sex scenes. Lisa De Leeuw excels in a truly challenging role, where she must display a sterile and circumspect demeanor in an explicitly sexual setting.
